Cerezo had not played since losing 2-0 away to China's Shandong Luneng on March 16. It was the first J-League club to play an official match in Japan since the devastating March 11 earthquake and tsunami in the country's northeast that killed up to 25,000 people. “There were a lot of fouls and it was not a pretty game at times but we got the result,'' Cerezo Osaka coach Levir Culpi told Kyodo news agency. “It's an important win for us.'' Inui scored when he collected a back heel pass from Rodrigo Pimpao and beat Jeonbuk goalkeeper Kim Min-sik. “Pimpao gave me a good ball and I am glad I was able to keep my head and put it away,'' Inui said. “In the end we were able to play our game and got the result and that will set us up nicely for the next match.'' The match was preceded by a minute's silence in memory of those killed and injured in the earthquake. At Malang, Indonesia, midfielder Muhammad Fakhrudin scored a penalty in injury time to give Arema Malang a 1-1 draw with Shandong in Group G. Brazilian striker Obina scored in the 21st minute to give Shandong the early lead. It was the first point of the competition for Arema, which lost its first two matches. Shandong has a win, draw and loss for four points to sit in third place in Group G. Jeonbuk and Cerezo have six points each, with the South Korean side holding top spot on goal difference. In Group E, South Korean team Jeju United came from behind to beat Gamba Osaka of Japan 2-1 after Bae Ki-jung scored the winner in the 65th minute. Center back Sota Nakazawa had given the visitors the lead in the 23rd minute, before Shin Young-rok equalized in the 55th. At Tianjin, China, Kevin Muscat scored in the 52nd minute to give the A-League's Melbourne Victory a 1-1 draw with Tianjin Teda. Serbian defender Marko Zoric had put the home side ahead in the 19th minute, but was sent off in the 75th for a rough tackle. Tianjin remained in first place in the group with seven points, one ahead of Jeju. Melbourne is in last place with one point after losing its two opening matches. Iran's Foolad Sepahan and Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia look all but assured of progression from Group A after impressive wins. Hadi Aghily scored from a 54th-minute penalty and Ahmad Jamshidian found the net 11 minutes later as Sepahan earned its third win from three matches with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Qatar's Al Gharafa. Al-Gharafa shares last place in the group with the United Arab Emirates' Al Jazira, which lost 3-1 at second-placed Al Hilal. Al-Hilal surged to a 2-0 lead inside 13 minutes thanks to Ahmed Ali Kamel and Yasser Al Qahtani, but Ahmed Jumaa halved the deficit for the UAE Pro League leaders before the midway point of the first half. Al Hilal restored their two-goal cushion in second-half injury time via Mohammed Al Shalhoub. In the night's only Group B fixture, Qatar's Al Sadd leapt to the top of the group with a 1-0 win over the previously unbeaten Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia. Lee Jung-soo netted the decisive goal on the hour mark when he neatly turned in Nadir Belhadj's corner. The match became increasingly ill-tempered as it wore on and both teams were reduced to 10 men after Al-Nassr's Mohammed Eid and Belhadj were sent off in the second half. Abdelmalik Ziaya, Manaf Aboshgair and Paulo Alves scored to help two-time champions Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia extend its Group C with a their third consecutive win, a 3-0 result at the UAE's Al Wahda.
