PAKISTAN: 3.5 MLN KIDS AT RISK OF DEADLY DISEASES

The UN estimates that up to 3,5 million children are at risk from deadly water-borne diseases in Pakistan. The spokesman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Pakistan, Maurizio Giuliano, told AGI that “five million people have no access to drinking water and we don’t have enough funds to attend to eight million people. Six to eight million people have no access to food across an area as big as Switzerland and Austria put together. Unless we do something now, we’ll witness a second deadly wave”. The International community has already pledged $460 million, but Giuliano said that “it’s not enough”. Italy pledged $800,000.
