Seven people have died and 288 injured in clashes in Mozambique caused by increases in prices. The government has reported that during the general strike in the capital and its surrounding areas, 23 shops were looted and 12 busses were damaged by vandals. A government spokesman, Alberto Nkkutumula, reiterated that these increases are “irreversible”.
