AFFAIRS: PERU OVERTAKES COLUMBIA IN COCAINE PRODUCTION

Peru has overtaken Colombia as the world’ largest producer of cocaine. The data was provided by the UN’s Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC) which in a report has stated that 45.5% of cocaine now comes from Peru compared to 39.3% produced by Colombia and 15.3% by Bolivia.

In 2009 Lima produced 119,000 tons of coke leaves compared to the 103,000 produced in Colombia during the same period.
