African soccer is making progress after a weak performance in the World Cup and rising in FIFA rankings. Ghana, for example, after almost making the semi-finals in South Africa, has improved its position rising from 23rd to 20th place. The rankings are led by Egypt which is in 9th position allowing itself the luxury of overtaking Italy.
