Apple has announced that the iPhone overcalculates network signal strengths and has promised to find a solution to the problem. The admission comes in the wake of claims from some users over the design of the antenna. Apple made a formal apology in an open letter, saying that it was “stunned to find that the formula” used to calculate field forces “is totally wrong” and that the mistake had been present since the original iPhone.
