BURN-A-KORAN-DAY: PROTESTER SHOT IN FRONT OF NATO BASE

An Afghan citizen protesting against plans to burn the Koran was killed in front of a Nato base in Afghanistan. At the end of Eid prayer services to mark the end of Ramadan, a 10,000-strong crowd gathered in a rally on the streets of Faizabad to protest against plans to burn copies of the Koran.

Some demonstrators threw rocks at a German-run military base, and one of them was killed when soldiers retaliated with gunfire, according to the local governor’s spokesman. .
