Several civil servants involved in scams over tenders for works in the prison in Massa Carrara have been arrested. They are each accused of trying to defraud the State, falsification, extortion and tender rigging. Investigations being carried out by police in Massa Carrara in collaboration with the Central Investigations Unit of the Penitentiary Police, have uncovered serious irregulaties in tender competitions for public works at the local district prison, intended to benefit a small group of companies, resulting in illegal earnings for all concerned.
