FINLAND GIVES GO-AHEAD FOR 2 NEW NUCLEAR CENTERS

The Finnish parliament has authorized the construction of two new nuclear power plants. The government’s objective is to reduce energy dependence and the emission of contaminating gases. The two new nuclear sites will be added to the four existing plants and a fifth still under construction near Olkiluoto. The Olkiluoto plant is the first to be contructed in western Europe after the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl in 1986.
