The European Commissioner for Economic & Financial Affairs gave strong backing to Ireland’s deficit reduction plan. Olli Rehn commented: “Ireland will unveil shortly a multi-annual, four-year budgetary plan on how to consolidate the public finances and we strongly endorse Finance Minister Lenihan’s handling of this issue.
