The Italian navy’s ‘Libeccio’ frigate has secured the release of an Iranian cargo vessel taken over by pirates in the Indian Ocean. The Iranian sail boat was accosted off the coast of Kenya but weather conditions made a rescue impossible. The frigate tailed the vessel until the early hours of dawn, with the Italian navy securing the arrest of 10 pirates and the release of 7 crew (6 Pakistani nationals, 1 Iranian).
