Two of Greenpeace’s Japanese activists have been convicted to a 1-year sentence for having stolen whale meat. The sentence was converted into 3 years with a suspended sentence. The facts occurred in April 2008, when the two activists stole a box containing 23 kg of whale meat, after having trespassed onto private property, to prove that the cetaceans are hunted for commercial and not scientific purposes
