LAKE ON MONT BLANC THREATENS ST.GERVAIS

A large water pocket under the ice of  Tete-Rousse on Mont Blanc threatens the St. Gervais valley below. Engineers have started to dig a hole to drain the water. The reservoir contains 65,000 cubic metres of water and could devastate an area home to 3000 people. In 1892 a similar event killed 172 people.
