Mahmoud Ahamdinejad has started his visit to Lebanon, welcomed in Beirut by thousands of Hezbollah supporters. This controversial trip is Ahmadinejad’s first official visit to Lebanon since his victory in the 2005 presidential elections. In this occasion, the Iranian president should visit the southern border with Israel and some analysts are interpreting it as a message saying that Lebanon is “an Iranian base”, right at the border with the Jewish state.
