An army of giant rats is helping with Mozambique’s mine clearing programme: the rats easily locate the mines. The head of Communication for the mine clearance project, Ms Felicia Byrne, explained that the rats have proved themselves “very professional” and have helped find 650 mines, 310 unexploded bombs and 6,205 small arms.
