French President Nicolas Sarkozy denies having received illegal donations from Liliane Bettencourt. “It would be truly great if this country could be passionate about the bigger issues, rather than focusing on this scandal”, he stated. Mr. Sarkozy has labeled the accusations against him “slander with the sole purpose of sullying one’s reputation, without any basis of truth”.
