SENEGAL’S OLDEST BAND TURNS 50 YEARS OLD

One of west Africa’s oldest music bands, Senegal’s Ucas Jazz Band, has celebrated its 50th anniversary. The band, whose members are aged between 30 and 72, is well-known for its original sound which can be described as a combination of typical sounds from the country’s southern Casamance province and Cuban rhythms.
