Astronomers have discovered ‘Gliese 581g’ the most similar planet to earth ever found. In theory it could be an alternative habitat. One of the planet’s trump cards is that it is the right distance from its star (a red dwarf), in the band that would allow it to have surface water and to receive the right amount of solar energy.
