Former Atletico Madrid and Spanish squad central defender Juan Carlos Arteche has passed away aged 53. During his pro career Arteche won a Copa del Rey and a Supercup. His career as a professional footballer ended in 1989. His passing away following a struggle with cancer was announced by Radio Nacional Espana, where Arteche also worked.
