A US citizen of Algerian descent has been arrested in Barcelona on charges of financing terrorist organisation. The news was reported by the Spanish interior ministry. Mohamed Omar Debgi, 43, was arrested last Tuesday. According to investigators he is responsible for the transfer of more than 60k euro in funds to Al Qaeda for the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). The funds are said to have been transferred via wire and couriers. The recipient of such funds was identified as Toufik Mizi, pending trial in Spain as of 2006 on terrorism related charges.
