ANAS claims the 45 days of summer holiday featured traffic queues and delays but no traffic freeze on Italian roads. Essentially, there were fewer inconveniences and, above all, fewer accidents, partly thanks to the new Highway Code, according to national road maintenance authority. The latter made a statement regarding this positive outcome at its National Control Center. The meeting gathered together ANAS President Pietro Ciucci, Road Police Director Roberto Sgalla, Highways for Italy CEO Giovanni Castellucci and Automobile Club boss Ascanio Rozera. .
