New mines, pollution and shortage of funds, all factors that put the Grand Canyon in jeopardy. This is reported in the “State of the Parks” drafted by the United States Park Conservation Association. Research is focusing on the environment, but the reports highlights also shortage of funds, i.e. Federal funds amount only to 38% of what is needed to run the park.
