The UN poverty summit closed with the announcement of a record 40 billion dollar world health drive. The funds have been gathered thanks to donations from governments, individual philanthropists and association. Ban Ki-Moon enthusiastically announced the drive: “We know what works to save women’s and children’s lives, and we know that women and children are critical to all of the Millennium Development Goals. Today we are witnessing the kind of leadership we have long needed.” The UN goal is to save 16 million human lives by the end of 2015. .
