A 4.7 magnitude quake struck Christchurch, the New Zealand city that was hit by a 7 degree magnitude quake in Sept. Several dwellings have been preventively evacuated while a number of city districts were left without electric power and telephone connections for approximately 15 minutes. The airport was temporarily closed down to enable experts to check the landing strips, consequently causing delays in all scheduled flights.
